How to choose a suitable electricity package for yourself?

16. February 2026

  • First, you need to review the size of your electricity consumption. If you are already an Alexela customer, you can see information in Alexela's self-service portal and Alexela app, but if you are a new customer, the easiest way is to check your consumption size on the network operator's website. In Estonia, the largest of these is Elektrilevi. It is worth noting that from Elektrilevi's self-service, you can immediately check if the appropriate network package has been selected. According to consumption, you will also see the network package recommended for you there.
  • Once the consumption is known, you need to consider if you are the type of family who can and wants to monitor their consumption against the market price and if you have, for example, solar panels installed on the house and purchased a battery solution. If the answer is yes, then a sensible choice is a market price electricity package. Suitable solutions from market price packages for large consumers are Alexela Kodupakett or Virtuaalaku electricity package.
  • If the market price seems risky and you want to plan your budget as accurately as possible, we recommend choosing some form of fixed package for yourself. Alexela recommends a 6-month fixed price electricity package or Paindlik fiks and for apartment residents, the electricity package Kindel maht.
  • However, if you are the type of electricity consumer who does not want to directly monitor the market price but follows the market and prefers to fix it for the winter, as consumption can then increase purely due to weather conditions and you do not want to take risks during this period, it is sensible to choose either the Electricity package Vali ise or to fix the electricity price for 6 months and return to the market price in spring - before summer.
  • When choosing a fixed package, it is important to consider how long you want to enter into the contract - if you are the type of customer we referred to in the previous paragraph, it is worth avoiding contracts that incur costs associated with terminating and changing the contract. In addition to the s/kWh price, it is also worth reviewing the size of the monthly fees.
  • For market price, be sure to look at the market price history, as this gives an idea of what price fluctuations may occur and a sense of whether you are really ready to take those peak price risks.
  • It is worth reviewing the electricity package once a year, and you will always be helped by Alexela's excellent customer service representatives, who will find the best solutions for your needs. In addition, there are three simple questions here that will help you review at any time whether your electricity package meets your current desires and lifestyle.
