Defend Estonia – freedom and security start with you

  • The core of Estonia’s national defense is our reserve army, made up of 100,000 members.
  • The Reserve Fund supports the strengthening of our reserve force’s combat readiness and defensive capabilities. As a result, Estonia’s defenders can more rapidly apply the lessons learned from the war in Ukraine to protect our homeland.
  • The fund’s first priority is the procurement of drones. Following that, the focus will be on testing and implementing other new technologies and on the training of reserve officers.

How does the community program work?

  • The fund’s resources are managed by the Foundation for the Advancement of National Defence, and they are used to procure equipment for reservists according to proposals from the Ministry of Defence. This is based on the input and needs of the Defence Forces, the Defence League, the Defence Resources Agency, and the Centre for Defence Investments.
  • In your home area, members of the Defence League volunteer their time to ensure that our homes are protected and safe. Your support for the Reservists’ Fund helps them do this even better.
  • As a loyal Alexela customer, once the program is launched, you will start contributing a suitable number of digital stamps each month to the community program.

Hanno Pevkur

Minister of Defence

The Reserve Fund is an additional opportunity for all Estonian individuals and businesses to make a voluntary contribution to national defense. Every euro donated supports our defense capability and our reservists.

Martin Herem

Former Commander of the Defence Forces, General

Alexela’s community program is a clear example of a values-based contribution that Estonian companies are making to national defense.

Ilmar Tamm

Commander of the Defence League, Major General

The drones acquired through the Reserve Fund allow us to expand drone-related training and enhance the skills of both reservists and Defence League members.

Aivar Hanniotti

Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Coordinator of the Defence League

The use of drones in warfare is one of the fastest-developing areas, and the drone equipment acquired through the Reserve Fund enables Estonia’s drone units to keep pace with this evolution.

Ilmar Raag

Screenwriter and director

By supporting the Reservists' Fund, all members of Alexela's community program make an additional contribution to national defense. Today, this is important.

Frequently Asked Questions

Alexela is a company built on Estonian capital, and our values start with our home country and its security. Supporting national defence is a natural part of strengthening life in Estonia and ensuring long-term sustainability. The Reservists’ Fund makes it possible to do this in a focused way that directly supports Estonia’s defence capability.

The goal of the program is to create an opportunity to contribute together to protecting the people of Estonia and the country. Donations are directed through the fund to support equipment, training, and stronger unity among reservists. This way, every Alexela customer can make a small but meaningful contribution to strengthening Estonia’s defence capability.

To become a member, register as an Alexela loyalty customer and then join the community program here. When joining, you choose the size of your monthly ongoing contribution and the county you want to represent. After that, contributing and transferring donations to the fund happens automatically.

Contributing takes place via a monthly automatic recurring donation, which you can set between 5 and 25 Digistamps. If the number of Digistamps you collect is lower than your chosen contribution (for example, you collect 11 and chose 20), the fund receives that lower amount. If you collect more than your chosen contribution (for example, you collect 11 and chose 10), the fund receives 10 Digistamps and the remaining Digistamps stay in your account.

Yes — if you wish, you can conveniently change your contribution amount later in the self-service environment.

The use of the funds is decided by the National Defence Promotion Foundation (Riigikaitse Edendamise Sihtasutus), based on the needs of the Ministry of Defence and national defence institutions. The first priority is drones and other critical equipment. Decisions are made according to the real needs of the reserve forces and the goal of increasing readiness.

You donate digital stamps, which are converted into a monetary donation on the first day of the following month. One digital stamp equals €0.10, and the entire amount is directed to support the Reservists’ Fund.

Yes — both individuals and companies across Estonia can contribute to the Reservists’ Fund. The fund is open to everyone who wants to support reservists’ equipment and training. Contributions through Alexela’s community program are one part of this broader collective support.

Drones have been chosen as a metric so that members of the community program have a clearer understanding of what the total amounts donated mean in practice. According to the Ministry of Defence’s estimate, one average drone costs about €500, which makes it possible to visualize the community’s contribution in a simple and understandable way, although this is more of a symbolic unit of measurement. However, the final decision on which specific equipment the fund’s money will be invested in is made by the Ministry of Defence, based on the actual needs of the reserve forces.

The county selection is symbolic — like choosing a coat of arms under which you want to represent your community. While all counties work toward one shared goal and contribute to Estonia’s national defence as a whole, the choice allows you to keep a personal identity and represent your home region. It creates a shared team spirit where each county contributes together, but with its own character.

Alexela transfers the collected contributions to the Reservists’ Fund once a month, based on customers’ recurring and one-time contributions. Transfers take place regularly on the first working day of each month. This ensures donations reach the fund consistently and transparently.

Since many individuals and companies across Estonia contribute to the Reservists’ Fund in addition to the Alexela community, the Ministry of Defence consolidates the donations and the overview of how they are used. In cooperation with them, we publish regular updates on the community program page so that all contributors have a clear picture of the fund’s investments and their impact.
