Alexela received the recognition of "Supporter of the Defence Forces"

The Ministry of Defence recognised Alexela with the gold-level “Supporter of National Defenders” award! Marti Hääl: “I had the honour of accepting this recognition on behalf of all our employees, current and future customers, and cooperation partners.”According to President Alar Karis, national defence works better when it is backed by the whole society, including entrepreneurs and employers. “14,000 reservists took part in training assemblies last year, and many of them would not have been able to do so without the support of their employers. I thank the companies and institutions that stand by our national defenders and thereby make a direct contribution to Estonia’s national defence. Your example inspires others as well and helps make supporting national defenders increasingly natural and self-evident,” said Karis.Accepting the recognition on behalf of Alexela, Marti Hääl said: “The example of Ukraine shows us that a country’s defence capability is only as strong as the breadth of its willingness to defend itself and the resilience of society in any crisis situation. As a provider of an essential service, all of us at Alexela share an important role and responsibility. But the same also applies to all our partners and customers. Every contribution counts, and everyone’s contribution to national defence, according to their ability, should already be a basic hygiene factor in society. Starting from the everyday choices of every person in Estonia.”“I had the honour of accepting this highest recognition for supporting national defenders on behalf of all our employees, current and future customers, and cooperation partners,” he added. The gold-level “Supporter of National Defenders” recognition is awarded for a long-term and exceptional contribution to supporting Estonia’s national defenders and for meeting the following criteria:being a clearly outstanding example to others in its market sector by highlighting issues concerning reservists with partners, customers, and other stakeholders;offering various benefits to reservists and the Defence Forces, including discounts, equipment rental opportunities, free transport, and similar support;having paid the difference between the employee’s salary and the training assembly allowance to a person participating in an exercise (that is, having maintained the person’s full monthly salary);having continued to pay the person’s salary in full during the exercise;having paid the person an additional bonus or enabled paid additional leave for the duration of the exercise. This year, for the fourth time, the Ministry of Defence recognised companies and organisations that make an outstanding contribution to Estonia’s national defence and support national defenders both in their everyday work and during training assemblies.Photo: Raigo Pajula

A new stage begins in the development of the Pakri Peninsula port and the Paldiski LNG terminal

A new stage begins in the development of Pakri Peninsula Port and Paldiski LNG terminalOn March 27, 2026, a transaction was completed, as a result of which Infortar sold its stake in Pakri Peninsula Port OÜ to Nordic Stream Group OÜ.The CEO of Alexela, Marti Hääle, stated that together with Infortar, led by Ain Hanschmidt and Martti Talgre, an extraordinary journey was undertaken in 2022, which has strengthened Estonia's energy security and laid the foundation for the development of the regional gas market. The addition of a new investor creates good conditions for the next stage.“Our goal is to move forward with the introduction of peak load power plants and the existing liquefied natural gas (LNG) infrastructure. The Estonian electricity system clearly shows a lack of controllable capacities. The system must operate stably all the time and electricity must be available to consumers at all times,” said Hääle. “A gas power plant is an important future-proof solution, as it allows for quickly and flexibly covering those moments when other electricity production is not sufficient. This helps to reduce price fluctuations and strengthen supply security throughout the system. We will publicly announce more detailed next steps and the content of the development when the necessary preparations have been made and we are ready to essentially disclose future plans.”According to Angela Rannu, a member of the management board of Nordic Stream Group OÜ, this investment is seen as having great potential and synergy in exporting the production of the LNG terminal, the developing power plant, and the green ammonia plant through Pakri Peninsula Port. “As turbulent times continue in the world, ensuring energy security in Estonia and our neighboring region is of paramount importance. In the context of risk mitigation, the construction of the gas terminal in Paldiski is strategically important. Paldiski is located in a geographically favorable location, serving as Estonia's gateway to Western Europe. It is also noteworthy that it is more than 250 kilometers to the Russian border from here,” explained Rannu.Nordic Stream Group and Alexela see strong partnership with the state in their project. The goal is to put into operation the Paldiski mooring quay owned by the Estonian State Reserves Center to import LNG from the global market to Estonia, as well as to export synthetic fuels produced in Estonia in the future.

B2G Group is part of the Estonian capital-based AVH Group, which also includes Alexela: the energy company with the widest range of energy services in Estonia. The modernized infrastructure allows the Riga port to serve large LPG tankers bringing liquefied gas from transatlantic markets. During the official opening, the 180-meter-long tanker CERRO ALTO EXPLORER, carrying 20,000 tons of liquefied propane from the United States, was present at the port. The first shipment from the west arrived in Riga at the end of 2024 from Sweden, and the first ships from the USA arrived in 2025. During this time, AVH Group has grown Alexela into one of the companies with the largest energy services portfolios in Estonia, invested in the LNG terminal in Hamina, Finland, and now also in LPG infrastructure in Riga.”As part of the terminal modernization, a 780-meter gas pipeline was built between the deep-water quay and the terminal, along with a modern technological complex for LPG handling and a multi-level automated security system.
